WEST MICHIGAN — Fall may officially begin on Thursday, but this upcoming week will feel more like summer across the FOX 17 viewing area.

Although today will be a little cooler and less humid than yesterday, most of the extended forecast will feature temperatures that are well above average with occasional shower and thunderstorm chances.

In the near term, today will likely be rain-free with partly cloudy skies. There could be a few sprinkles if Future Track HD is correct, but this will be a low chance as the lower and middle levels of the atmosphere are very dry. Here is a look at the sprinkles our model is showing later this morning:

It will also be a bit breezy this afternoon — especially near Lake Michigan. Although there aren’t any small craft advisories in effect or beach hazards, it still doesn’t look like the best beach day:

A weak cold front could bring some showers and thunderstorms Monday evening and Monday night. More showers and storms are possible again Thursday and Friday. It will be warm with highs generally in the middle 70s to lower 80s in the extended forecast, with lows in the middle 50s to lower 60s. (The average high and low in Grand Rapids is 72° and 52° at this time of year.)
