WEST MICHIGAN — It’s been a beautiful weekend so far, and the nice weather is expected to hold through the daylight hours today. However, an approaching cold front will bring some major changes to our weather tonight and tomorrow. Showers and a few rumbles of thunder are expected to roll through the area after sunset tonight as that cold front approaches from the west. Here is a look at where the cold front is as of this early morning writing:

Ahead of this front, southeasterly winds will continue to pump warmer air into the FOX 17 viewing area this afternoon and tonight. Temperatures will be running nearly 10 degrees above average with highs in the middle to upper 70s and lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

As far as the timing goes with this next rainfall event, Future Track HD suggests it will move across US-131 around 10 PM.

Scattered showers are still in the forecast on Monday as well, with our forecast model predicting up to a half inch of rain through Monday evening:

Cooler weather with occasional shower chances are in the forecast for the rest of the week as an upper level low pressure system lingers over the area or just to our east through Saturday.
