Portage woman arrested for driving wrong way on I-94

ANTWERP TWP., Mich. – A Portage woman is in custody after police say she was driving the wrong way on I-94 early Monday morning.

Michigan State Police say they were contacted by Kalamazoo and Van Buren County dispatch about 12:30 a.m. that a vehicle was heading west in the eastbound lanes of I-94.  The first reports were from the 72 mile marker near 9th Street.

Troopers and officers from Paw Paw and Mattawan Police and the Van Buren County Sheriff stopped eastbound traffic at the 63 mile marker near Paw Paw.  The officers were able to get the woman to stop before there were any crashes.

The woman, a 63-year-old from Portage, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 2nd, Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Reckless Driving.  Her name will be released after her arraignment.
