CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — A Pennfield High student was arrested after he allegedly made violent threats towards the school.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says Wednesday afternoon, the school learned that a 14-year-old student had posted several threatening messages on Twitter. A deputy was at the school and was able to meet with the student immediately and he was arrested within minutes.

“We take any threat to a school or to anybody seriously,” Calhoun County Sheriff Matt Saxton said.

That freshman was taken to the Calhoun County Juvenile Home. Deputies say he didn’t have access to any weapons.

“If you see something that’s directed threats to a school or a mall or anything notify the police, let us investigate it,” Saxton told FOX 17 News. “If we’re wrong, that’s okay but if we’re wrong on the one we don’t report that’s not good.”

Saxton says parents were notified immediately after the threats and arrest were made.
