JAMESTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A woman was killed in what police say was an unfortunate accident, after the horse trailer she was towing fatally struck her on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at around 3:45 p.m. on 24th Avenue in Jamestown Township of Ottawa County.  Sheriff’s deputies say the victim, identified as Sally Ponstein, 59, was pulling a horse trailer behind her 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck.  She stopped the truck, and exited her vehicle, but failed to put it into park.

Ponstein was then struck by the horse trailer as the truck moved forward, still in gear.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.
