GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The number of dead from Hurricane Matthew in Haiti stands at nearly 300 — and officials say there are scores of bodies that have yet to be counted.
Many died from falling debris as winds of 145-miles-an-hour tore through the area on Tuesday. People across southwest Haiti today are digging through the wreckage of their homes, salvaging what they can.
