ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 16-year-old girl is dead after being ejected from an SUV.

It happened Saturday around 10:50 p.m. on 6 Mile Road and Fruit Ridge Avenue. Deputies say a 2001 GMC Yukon was driving westbound on 6 Mile Road when the the driver failed to stop, hitting a 2008 Jeep 4-door on Fruit Ridge Avenue.

Four teens were in the Yukon. The 16-year-old was sitting in the back before being thrown from the vehicle. Authorities said she was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Jeep, a 28-year-old woman, was pinned inside her SUV and had to be extracted. She was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The three other passengers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
