HOLLAND, Mich. -- A West Michigan mom turned her farm into a field trip destination, volunteering her time and money so that children and adults can come experience the joy of farm life admission free.
Cheryl Kaletka bought the farm six years ago hoping to extend her daughters' activities and give them more opportunities for socialization. Kaletka's youngest daughter has Down syndrome and her oldest has a seizure disorder.
The farm started out as hobby for the girls, but grew when one of their teachers suggested they should host field trips there.
With pigs, donkeys, goats, horses, llamas, bunnies and more the farm makes the perfect animal experience for any age group.
"We've had nursing home patients, elementary school kids and special education groups visit the farm," Kaletka tells FOX 17.
Holland East's Severely Multiply Impaired class visited the farm Friday. “The kids get so excited. It’s awesome to see their faces when they see the animals come up to them," teacher Nicole Geister said
