FRUITLAND TWP., Mich.– A Fruitland Township woman is facing a year in prison after she falsely reported a felony.

Leiha Ann-Sue Artman, 25, pleaded guilty to making a false report of a felony to police, claiming she was abducted by four men in her driveway in late March, thrown in the trunk of their car and beaten and sexually assaulted at an unknown location.

Reporting a false felony is typically a four year prison sentence, but Artman was a second offense habitual offender, which could have increased the penalty up to six years.

There was no deal in exchange for her plea, but Muskegon Circuit Judge Timothy Hicks decided against state prison time for Artman.  She was sentenced to 12 months in jail with credit for two days served and 24 months of probation. She will also have to pay a $1,158 fine.
