ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — Harold 'Butch' Knight, accused of killing his wife, has avoided capture for nearly two years making him one of West Michigan's most wanted.

Knight is wanted for the murder of his wife, Sara.

Sara's family is taking new steps to find 'Butch' and find closure, hiring a private investigator to look into the case and hopefully get some answers.

'Butch' made a call to Allegan County Dispatch telling them he strangled his wife and then disappeared.

Just three months shy of the two year anniversary of her death, Sara Knight's family is more frustrated than ever.

"My family is very angry," said Roxanne Harris, Sara's daughter. "They don't understand why they watch the news and all these other murders are solved, but my mom's isn't. There's so much evidence that he did it. He even called it in. Why isn't he caught?"

The family is hopeful a private investigator will find things that police might've missed.

"We were told that a private investigator can look into things more than the police department can," Harris said. "We have a lot of unanswered questions that the police department won't discuss because it's an open investigation."

Harris also revealed the family received a package from 'Butch' just days after Sara's death. In the package was a four-page, front and back, single-spaced letter threatening the family and insisting Sara would be cremated. Also inside the package was around $2,000 to pay for the cremation.

"I ditched my car right after my mom was murdered," Harris said. "I'm armed wherever I go. I always look over my shoulder. We're still terrified."

Harris thinks 'Butch' is either in Maine or Canada and hopes the private investigator can look into different aliases he might be using. Almost two years after her mother's death, Harris says she's tired of living in fear.

"We just need to find him," she said. "I just want him behind bars."

Harris hopes the private investigator can look into her mother's finances to see if there's any trace of Butch in there that the police didn't find.
