1. A record number of people in Michigan are registered to vote for the 2016 election.

The Michigan Department of State reported that nearly 7.5 million people signed up.

Local campaign managers for both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump say their offices are energized, particularly with first time voters.

The Department of State said they're happy so many residents are planning to make their voices heard.

Election Day is November 8.

2. Well, shortly after the election, comes Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Day is now when thousands flock to the stores after stuffing their face with turkey.

Macy's is opening its stores one hour early, at 5 p.m. according to “Fortune Magazine.”

The department store giant has been having a lousy year. Last month, Macy's announced it was closing 100 of its stores because of declining sales.

Skeptics say the retailer is unlikely to see any big gains by opening early.

3. Some big changes are coming to the Motown Museum in Detroit.

The museum's CEO announced the $50 million expansion project on Monday.

The 50 thousand square-foot expansion will include interactive exhibits, a performance theater, recording studios, and more.

It will be built around the existing space and the Hitsville U.S.A. House.

The founder of Motown, Berry Gordy, said he's proud and humbled to know that the stories of Motown and its hit singers will be told in the new museum.

There's no official timeline for construction yet.

4. If you're looking to add a furry friend to the family, this weekend is going to be the time to do it.

Adoption fees will be covered for more than a thousand pets in West Michigan at Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event.

The foundation is covering adoption fees at more than 50 shelter and rescue organizations across the state.

All you'll have to pay is the licensing fee in your county. Some rescues require pre-approval, meaning you have to apply in advance.

You can find more information, including a list of shelters, at bissellpetfoundation.org.

5. Men with beards are considered to be more attractive to women according to a new study.

More than 8,500 women were asked to rate different photos of men.

Guys with light and heavy stubble were considered the most attractive for short-term relationships, while men with full beards were considered the most attractive for long term ones.

The findings suggest the full beard may make certain facial shapes appear more attractive.
