Child, 3, hit by car while walking with mother, siblings to school

HASTINGS, Mich. — A little boy was rushed to the hospital in unknown condition, after police say he was struck by a vehicle while walking with his family early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. at S. Hanover/M-37 and E. Madison Street in Hastings.  Police say the victim, described only as a three-year-old boy, was walking with his mother and older siblings as they headed to school. An approaching vehicle struck the boy, who suffered unknown injuries. He was taken to DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment.

The circumstances leading up to the crash are not clear at this time.
