As we get older, we seem to dread aging because of the physical changes that happen both inside and outside the body. These changes don't have to remain a mystery, research in women's health helps us understand what is going on in our bodies, and how to deal with the change.

Women's body systems are very different from a men's, women have different risk factors, symptoms, and heath timelines. By knowing the facts, common issues like obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attacks, and cancer don't have to be mysterious, and can often be avoided.

To help women identify and understand these changes, Spectrum Health will be hosting the 10th annual Girl's Night Out.

Women of all ages can talk to doctors and learn about a variety of topics including:

  • Stages of ovarian aging from regular periods to menopause.
  • PMS/PMDD.
  • Symptoms of hormonal change.
  • Healthy lifestyle habits that can make symptoms better.
  • Briefly hormonal treatment options like systemic and vaginal estrogen.
  • Knowledge on how the body will change in order not to suffer from symptoms.

Dr. Diana Bitner, a women's health specialist from Spectrum Health, will be a guest speaker at Girl's Night Out.

The event takes place on November 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dogwood Center for the Performing Arts in Fremont. Girl's Night Out is free and open to the public.
