EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police arrested a fleeing man and found a methamphetamine lab in an abandoned house Friday night.

At 6:30 p.m. Friday, Emmett Township Department of Public Safety officers were called to an abandoned house at 46 Lourim Court for a reported break-in. When officers arrived at the scene, a man jumped from a window and led officers on a short foot pursuit.

He was located in the area of Vale Street where he was placed into custody without incident.

Upon returning to the residence officers discovered several meth components and what appeared to be an active meth lab. Additional officers were called in along with a meth disposal team and the fire department. The residence was cleared and the meth components removed without further incident.

The Battle Creek man, whose name is not being released at this time, is currently in custody at the Calhoun County jail and will be arraigned on several charges, including breaking and entering and possession and manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Emmett Township Public Safety was assisted by the Battle Creek Police Department and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department meth response team.
