URBANDALE, Mich. – Christmas has been saved!  Consumers Energy has agreed to allow the decorations in Urbandale this holiday season.

Over the years, the community paid close to $10,000 to install boxes on the Consumers Energy light poles and another $10,000 for the decorations.  Consumers Energy told the community earlier this month, that they wouldn’t be able to decorate the poles this year due to concerns about safety.

When FOX 17 contacted Consumers earlier this week, they said they’d look into the issue further.  Friday, they reversed their decision, but if Consumers Energy needs to access any of the poles during the holidays, they won’t be responsible for any damage to the decorations or the replacement of any moved decorations.

Urbandale businesses said they are excited to continue their tradition for another holiday season.
