KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 10-year-old boy is dead after getting hit by a vehicle in Kalamazoo Township.
Police say it happened shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday evening. The vehicle was heading west down W. Main near the 4200 block when a 10-year-old boy attempted to cross the street in front of it. He was hit and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Daniel Sluiter. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with memorial costs.
There were no traffic lights or signs near where the boy was hit. The 52-year-old driver was not hurt.
Police say there’s no indication the driver was under the influence of any substance. The incident remains under investigation.
