High school contractor fired after having inappropriate relationship with student

BARRY COUNTY, Mich. — A contractor at Lakewood High School was fired after the district discovered she allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a former student.

Superintendent Randy Fleenor said in a note sent to parents November 2 that the district discovered that a Spectrum Health employee working at the high school had an inappropriate relationship with a recent graduate. Upon their discovery, the district says they demanded that Spectrum reassign her. Spectrum terminated her employment.

Fleenor says the case is being investigated internally, and that law enforcement and Child Protective Services have been notified.

Lakewood Schools says they believe this to be an isolated incident not involving other students.
