ROCKFORD, Mich. — Several thousand dollars in proceeds from the Rockford Ninja Warrior competition were donated to Rockford Public Schools Monday evening.

A check for $45,000 was given to Superintendent Dr. Michael Shibler at a Board of Education meeting. The money was raised from the Rockford Ninja Warrior event, which is put together by BridgeWay Community Church.

The Rockford Ninja Warrior competition is a challenging obstacle course inspired by the television show American Ninja Warrior. Obstacles include rising quintuple steps, a rope jungle, and a warped wall.

The donated money will be used for the district’s drug and health education programs.

Next year’s Ninja Warrior event will be held August 11 & 12 at the Deltaplex in Grand Rapids.
