Life after breast cancer, or any type of cancer, means finding a new normal after your body has gone through a lot of changes. So how can women get used to life after all these changes?

Nationally recognized menopause specialist Dr. Diana Bitner works at a special place within Spectrum Health Medical Group where she can help patients start moving forward.

For many people breast cancer can be diagnosed early and treated, so they can walk away from the experience without any signs of breast cancer.

Dr. Bitner says when she has patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer, she tells them it's just going to be a really hard year. So it's the job of doctors at Spectrum Health to help their patients find their new normal and move forward with their lives.

When patients come to the Cancer Survivorship Clinic, they go through the symptom circle. What this does is describe the symptoms of their sickness, which helps the patient see what they can do to better or worsen symptoms.

Being diagnosed with breast cancer does not mean it's the end of your life, but make sure you get diagnosed early so you can adjust to the next part of your life.

Dr. Bitner's office is located at 3800 Lake Michigan Drive Northwest, Suite A. To schedule an appointment with her, call (616) 267-8225.
