HOLLAND, Mich. – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department says that there will not be any criminal charges against a driver in a crash that killed a Holland Christian High School teacher.

The crash happened on September 26th on 120th Avenue and Garden Avenue when a pole being carried by a Parkway Electric truck fell off and crashed through the windshield of Kevin Witte.  Witte was knocked unconscious and later died.

Investigators found that the pole exceeded 40 feet long by about three feet and should have had an escort, as well as a flag during the day and a light at night.   The pole did have a flag on it.

They served Parkway with a Load Length Violation citation, but the incident did not merit a moving violation against the company or the driver.
