KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Kalamazoo Public Safety sergeant noticed dome lights in vehicles going on and off in a neighborhood where break-ins were reported several hours earlier. The observation eventually led to the arrest of two young people who admitted to breaking into possibly 15 vehicles.

The sequence of events began with a report around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to KPSD of a vehicle break-in on Old Colony Road in a neighborhood east of Kalamazoo Country Club. A KPSD sergeant was on patrol in the same area around 2:00 a.m. when he noticed dome lights going on and off. This led him to find several vehicles had been broken into.

A K9 unit was used to track down suspects located nearby in Parker Avenue. The pair, ages 16 and 18, admitted to the break-ins. Both had records for several offenses.
