GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A man who pleaded guilty to accosting a child at a Grand Rapids elementary school is going to prison.

Jalen Harris was sentenced Monday to 18 to 50 years in prison.  He had pleaded guilty to two counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes, kidnapping/child enticement, and Criminal Sexual Conduct 3rd degree.

The charges stem from incidents on February 2nd at River City Scholars school.  According to court documents, Harris did not check in at the office when he got to the school and made contact with a girl. He told her that he was there at her mom’s request and knew her mom and that he was there to check the size of her pants. He then took her into a private room and pulled her pants down.

The girl had leggings on and he asked her to take them down as well. She refused. He then allegedly put his hands on her thighs and she ran from the room.

After that, Harris allegedly did the same thing with another girl. She also fled from the room.
