GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- With the holidays ahead, thousands of kids in Michigan are living in foster care hoping to spend this season in their forever home.
As FOX 17 continues its Forever Home series, we introduce you to Marshall, a future scientist in the sixth grade, hopeful he will find his forever family.
Playing game after game Tuesday at Chuck E. Cheese, Marshall enjoyed his newfound love of skee ball.
“I’m a funny kid and I have fun," said Marshall.
Choosing his prize carefully after collecting more than one hundred tickets, Marshal apologized with a smile to the clerk for taking his time at the counter.
Immediately opening his toy prize you can tell Marshall enjoys building and putting things together. He is in the sixth grade and says he loves math and science.
"Why do I like science?" Marshall asked. "Because science, just you know, experiments, action.”
He also loves learning about bugs.
“Live things, (bugs) are kind of like us but they’re tiny," he explained.
And Marshall loves to read, sharing the plot of a book he just put down before meeting us.
“Language arts ‘cause I like reading," he said with big eyes. "Reading is fun!”
Overall with science Marshall says he sees his future.
“I want to be a scientist," said Marshall. “I would be a traveler, like you know, like the people off the Travel Channel. I would like to study bugs, animals, stuff, places.”
It's easy to tell Marshall is eager to learn, he's sweet, engaging and imaginative--especially when it comes to picturing spending a day with his forever family at Splash Village he says.
And when it comes to adoption, Marshall said, "It would mean a lot."
As we were getting ready to leave Chuck E. Cheese, Marshall hugged each of us, including our photographer while he was filming saying "nice to meet you."

FOX 17 has partnered again this season with Lutheran Adoption Service to help collect gifts for older kids, ages 12 to 17, living in Kent County foster care.
For the next few weeks if you would like to donate, you can drop of an unwrapped gift or gift card to the Lutheran Social Services building downtown Grand Rapids. It's located at: 207 East Fulton Street. You can leave any donations with the front reception and mention FOX 17.
