Winter Storm Watches upgraded to Warnings across West Michigan

West Michigan – The National Weather Service has upgraded the Winter Storm Watch expected to hit the region to a Winter Storm Warning for some counties and added a Winter Weather Advisory.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Mason, Lake, Oceana, Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties from midnight tonight through 4 PM Friday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Kent, Newaygo, Muskegon, Newaygo, Barry, Calhoun, Mason and Lake counties from midnight tonight through 4 PM Friday.

The heaviest snow is expected west and southwest of Grand Rapids where 6-12 inches are expected by Friday afternoon. Outside this area, locations like Muskegon, Grand Rapids Newaygo and Battle Creek will see about 3-6 inches by late Friday.

Blowing and drifting snow with reduced visibility are likely at times with especially along the lakeshore.
