LANSING, Mich. – Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation Thursday allowing “homes for the aged” to get liquor licenses.

Senate Bill 885, which was sponsored by state Senator Peter MacGregor, became Public Act 328 with the signing.

Under state law, “homes for the aged” are “supervised facilities that provide room, board, and supervised personal care to 21 or more individuals age 60 or over.”

“This bill helps ensure that those serving Michigan’s aging population are given more opportunities to offer products and services that help their residents feel more at home,” Snyder said in a press release.
