NORTON SHORES, Mich. — Residents near the 2400 block of Norcrest Drive near the Muskegon Heights Water Filtration Plant were asked to stay inside their homes after police said an armed man was barricaded inside a house. The Norton Shores Police Department announced shortly after 3 a.m. that the suspect, 41, was safely taken into custody in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Norton Shores Police tell FOX 17 that the standoff started as a domestic violence call around 6:30 p.m. Monday evening. The suspect's wife escaped the house. Police say they don't believe anyone else was inside with the armed subject.
