GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — After hosting the New Year’s Eve ball drop for much of the past decade, radio station HOT-FM has decided not to host the event this year.
Director of Marketing Marcus Bradman says they decided against hosting the ball drop due to challenges with changing locations and unfavorable weatherthe past couple years.
In years past, the ball drop happened at Founders Brewing, Rosa Parks Circle, Calder Plaza, and the intersection of Grandville Avenue and Cherry.
HOT-FM says they will use the money they would have used for the ball drop for different promotions and events in 2017.
