BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Post Consumer Brands has announced some job cuts coming in 2017 to Battle Creek facilities.
The company announced that they are shifting some of its current cereal production from Battle Creek in 2017. The current Battle Creek facility being effected employs 569 people. The company says some of the positions will be reduced through retirements and regular turnover and eliminating new hiring.
Not all of the 569 positions will be eliminated. The company says they are in negotiations with Local Union 374 of the United Cereal, Bakery, and Food Workers of the Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union regarding the impact on production shifts.
“Battle Creek is an important part of our production network and has a tremendous workforce that is over-achieving on nearly every goal we track,” said Dave McBeain, SVP of Operations in a press release. “Our goal is to bring our staffing levels in line with the production we anticipate but to do it with the least possible impact on employees. That means eliminating new hires and using retirement and normal turnover to cover as many position reductions as possible.”
