Second suspect arrested in homicide of WMU student

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says a second arrest has been made that’s connected to a deadly shooting of a Western Michigan University student last week.

A 20-year-old man was arrested in Muskegon around 9 p.m. Thursday night for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of Jacob Jones, 19. He died in the Soho Apartments on Howard Street last week.

Last week, police arrested a former Western Michigan basketball player Joeviair Kennedy for his alleged connection to the death. He was charged with armed robbery and home invasion. He’s due back in court December 29.

Kalamazoo police say they expect this second suspect to be arraigned next week.
