1. Michigan students may be required to learn CPR before they graduate from high school.

The State House voted in favor of legislation that would require students to receive CPR instruction at least once between 7th and 12th grade.

It would be up to school districts to decide when and how to incorporate the training into their curriculum.

According to the American Heart Association, nearly 375,000 people suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital each year, and only 8 percent survive.

There’s a bill currently on its way to Governor Snyder’s desk.

2. Ticket packages for LaughFest are now on sale.

On Thursday, acts like Joel McHale and Kat Williams were added to the list of comedians coming to town, which already included Ilisa Schlezinger and Sinbad.

Ticket packages go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday. Tickets for individual shows go on sale in January.

3. Cannonsburg Ski Area is planning to open for the season on Saturday.

They’re planning to open at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, with a special event called the Burton Rail Jam at 1 p.m.

Cannonsburg also announced that they’re hiring cooks, dishwashers, servers, and cashiers for their Cedar Lounge Restaurant.

4. After a week delay, the ice rink at Portage’s Millennium Park is now officially open for its 17th season.

Warmer temperatures and too much snow didn’t allow for good ice making conditions. Now that the rink passed the depth test and the ice is smooth, it’s back in business!

The refrigerated rink offers skate rentals, concessions, skate sharpening, restrooms, lockers, and a warming house.

5. Dragonsmilk and The Poet will soon find their way into fridge’s around the country.

New Holland Brewing announced it is teaming up with Pabst Brewing Company.

Pabst was looking to add a craft beer to its portfolio, and said that the decision to add an award winning label like New Holland is good for both sides.

The West Michigan based brewery produces around 35,000 barrels per year, but the owner is expecting that number to go up by as much as 40 percent.

Pabst will start shipping New Holland beers in the first quarter of the new year.
