JAMESTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An Ottawa County couple has been charged with trying to entice two teenagers for sex.

The Ottawa County Sheriff says Anuj and Leslie Chopra allegedly tried to entice two 16-year-olds to engage in sexual activities for money.  They surrendered to authorities Wednesday.

Investigators have charged Anuj, 41, with human trafficking.  Leslie, 42, has been charged with using a computer to commit a crime and distributing sexually explicit materials to minors. Police say she tried to communicate with a 16-year-old to entice him for sexual acts with her.

Investigators say the investigation began within the last month when a parent approached a deputy and expressed her concerns about the couple's behavior.

Investigators say that the couple became acquainted with the victims through their 16-year-old daughter.  Court documents show Anuj propositioned the teens to meet in a hotel room for a sexual encounter, and that he would video tape it.

Leslie Chopra is accused of using Snapchat to communicate and distribute sexually explicit materials with one of the alleged victims.  In all, investigators say the pair exchanged thousands of sexually-charged messages, but say they never had a sexual encounter.

"To any responsible parent, the allegations that are brought forward in this complaint are extremely concerning," said Capt. Mark Bennett with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. "And they should shock the conscience of any responsible parent."

Investigators say they believe the crimes began during Christmas break last year.  Both suspects are currently free on bond.

Detectives are still investigating the case and anyone with more information should call Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT.
