Crash closes two lanes of US-131 at Ann Street with 2-hour backup

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Two lanes are closed on US-131 coming into Grand Rapids after a crash.

The crash happened on southbound US-131 at Ann Street. One person was taken to the hospital with injuries.

One southbound car driven by a 27-year-old Grand Rapids man spun out of control into the path of another car driven by 31-year-old Newaygo man. The Grand Rapids man was taken to the Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital and is in serious condition, said Michigan State Police. The Newaygo man had minor injuries.

The two left lanes were closed for two hours after the crash occurred around 7:18 a.m..

Traffic on southbound US-131 was backed up to Post Drive, and eastbound I-96 was backed up at times to Fruit Ridge Avenue.

The crash was cleared and all lanes were opened at 9:30 a.m.
