PORTAGE, Mich. -- Portage Police executed a search warrant Wednesday at the home of missing Schoolcraft teacher Theresa Lockhart. They remained overnight until they left the house around 4 a.m., saying their intent was to return later in the morning.

Police entered the home off Poplar Bluff Court, roping the property off with police caution tape.

Christopher Lockhart, Theresa's husband, stood on the sidewalk with his attorney, watching crews on the property.

"It's a peaceful neighborhood, and to hear something like this is pretty frightening for everybody," said Bryan Salmon, who lives near the Lockharts. "We want to find out what's going on. I mean, I feel for her. She's a school teacher, she was well liked, and she has a lot of friends and family that are concerned."

Theresa, a Spanish teacher at Schoolcraft High School, has been missing since May 18. She was last seen leaving her home that night.

Her car was later found at a nearby park & ride.

Portage Police say no one has been arrested in connection with her disappearance.

Police previously said Christopher is a person of interest in the case.

They've also said the case may be a homicide.

Michigan State Police and the Kalamazoo Metro Swat Team assisted at the scene, according to a release.

Police are asking anyone with information on this case to contact them at 269-329-4567 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
