Man shot twice in stomach near elementary school

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids Police are investigating after a man was found early Saturday morning after being shot.

We're told the victim, a 45-year-old man, was found in the 1300 block of Thomas Street SE, right across the street from Campus Elementary School around 5:21 a.m.

Officers responded after receiving a call of shots fired in the area. Their investigation shows the victim was outside his house when the suspects approached him on foot, fired rounds, and then took off running.

Police say the victim suffered two gunshot wounds to his stomach and his injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

We're told police are still looking for the person responsible as they have no description of the suspect.
