18 passengers injured in party bus crash near Kent City

NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. — Police say there were 18 people injured after a crash involving a party bus Saturday evening.

It happened at 9:12 p.m. at the intersection of 22 Mile Road and Peach Ridge Avenue near Kent City.

Police on scene said the bus contained 30 people and was northbound on Peach Ridge when the driver failed to stop for the stop sign at the T intersection, the bus left the roadway on the north side of 22 Mile Road, hit a sign and then went into the ditch.

Police said the bus driver was cooperating with authorities.

Twelve people were transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, where all 12 were listed in stable condition, and six people were transported to Mary’s Hospital, where all six were treated and released.

The driver was not hurt.

Several agencies responded, including MSP as well as county deputies.
