CUSTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Scottville man was arrested Monday after rushing at Mason County deputies and fighting with them.

The incident began about 2:50 p.m. in the 400 block of East US-10. An employee at the Scottville EZ Mart called 911, reporting a man behind the business who was covered in blood.

When deputies arrived, witnesses told them that the man had wandered around the EZ Mart, and also had gotten into the back seat of a car.  He then left and went to a trailer which was next door to the EZ Mart.

Deputies say they found blood in the yard and on the front steps and front door of the trailer.  When they knocked on the door, the man rushed the deputies, screaming at them. He then fought with deputies who tried to restrain him.

Deputies found three more people at the trailer. All of them were found to be intoxicated.

They learned that blood at the scene had come from a deer that had been hit by a vehicle in front of the trailer.  The four men had apparently butchered the deer and were cooking venison at the trailer.
