WEST MICHIGAN -- Operation Good Cheer is a program that aims to let children in foster care programs the chance to experience a joyous Christmas.
The program, put on by Child and Family Services of Michigan, Inc., benefited nearly 5,000 kids.
Children participating in the progam get a chance to make a wish list of gifts they would like to have. Volunteers then purchase some of those gifts and drop them off at designated spots. Those gifts are then distributed on a mass scale to foster families across the state.
Samaritas, a non-profit organization, participated in Operation Good Cheer this year. They say about 170- 180 kids in Grand Rapids will receive gifts from the program.
