GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The recent surge in extreme weather in West Michigan brought an amateur storm chaser from Illinois to the area.
21-year-old Curtis Lergner travels across the midwest shooting footage of snow storms and other extreme weather in his custom built tracker. Lergner says he has put about $8,000 into customizing his vehicle to properly chase and capture the weather on video.
Lergner uploads all of his footage to his 'Chicago Midwest Storm Chaser' Facebook profile with the hope of providing real-time weather information to his followers.
While most of what Lergner knows is self-taught, he plans to attend college soon to get his degree in Meteorology.
