MUSKEGON, Mich. — Convicted murderer Jeffrey Willis couldn’t escape entirely listening to the family members of his victim.

Willis was allowed to leave the Muskegon County courtroom he was sentenced in last Monday before any of the family member’s of his victim, Rebekah Bletsch, were able to read their impact statements. On his way out, Willis hurled one final insult before he disappeared through the holding door – he blew a kiss in the direction of the Bletsch family. Then he left to shouts of profanity and “coward.”

But a Facebook post that made the rounds Wednesday suggested that law enforcement played audio recordings of the victim impact statements made by the family to Willis as he was being transported later in the day in a deputy’s cruiser.

Muskegon County Sheriff Michael Poulin confirmed to FOX 17 Thursday that the story was accurate.
