GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – More substantial snow is on the way.

The National Weather Service is issuing a Winter Storm Watch starting Thursday evening and lasting into Friday evening.  The counties affected are south of a line that includes Allegan, Barry and Eaton County, down to the Michigan/Indiana border.

The heaviest snow from this system will fall south of I-96 where up to 9 inches are expected. North of this band we should see around 3-5 inches, with lesser amounts to the north. The exact track of this storm is still unsure, so snow amounts could be adjusted.

Cold temperatures will continue into the weekend with additional lake effect snow showers. High temperatures will climb into the middle 30s by next week.

We’ll have more details throughout the week on FOX 17 News and on the FOX 17 Weather App.
