GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Three people were able to escape a house fire Thursday morning in Grand Rapids.

The fire was reported about 10:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Hiaschutter Place NW.  Fire crews tell FOX 17 that when they arrived, the basement and first level of the home were in flames.  They were also notified that all three people inside had gotten out, some escaping by jumping out of a window.

Crews believe the fire started in the basement, but the cause has not been determined.  The fire worked itself up through the home to the attic.

We'll have more details when they become available.
