    RUTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Six people were taken to the hospital following a crash in Barry County Tuesday evening, police report. Around 5:30 p.m., an 85-year-old from Hastings made a left turn at M-43 and M-37, but failed to yield and collided with another vehicle.     GVSU students calm down with therapy dogs while preparing for final exams

    ALLENDALE, Mich–  Students at Grand Valley State University were treated to some special guests while studying for final exams on Monday. Some animals from West Michigan Therapy Dogs visited the school’s Mary Idema Pew Library as part of the school’s Exam Cram. Exam Cram runs through April 28th.   • Barn receives new animals after fire kills therapy horses

    LOWELL, Mich– More than a week after a fire destroyed a barn and killed 13 therapy horses at The Barn for Equine Learning, the facility has received six new miniature horses. The Barn for Equine Learning posted a photo of the new animals on Facebook, thanking the community for its ongoing support.   • More than 100 cats removed from Calhoun County home

    ATHENS, Mich– A search warrant executed on a home in Calhoun County on Thursday revealed more than 100 cats living inside. The discovery off South Avenue A was made by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department Animal Control Division and Battle Creek Police Department Animal Control Division as part of an animal cruelty and neglect investigation.     DETROIT, Mich– More than three months after a Rottweiler-Mix was found wandering the streets of Detroit with his ears and nose cut off, ‘Baron the Dog’ is enjoying his new life.     WALKERVILLE, Mich. — A new budget was finally approved Saturday, allowing the Walkerville Area Fire and Rescue to continue with their operations. Nearly 60 people attended the meeting to hear out the discussion during a joint town hall meeting Saturday with the Village of Walkerville along with Colfax, Elbridge & Leavitt townships.
