    EAST LANSING, Mich– Michigan State University posted a photo to its Facebook page late Thursday evening, showing its famous rock painted in honor of the victims of Hurricane Harvey. The rock is also painted with information about a YouCaring fundraising page, to help those affected by the natural disaster.   • 291 Days and finally home: Gracelyn has been adopted!

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich- After spending 291 days without a family to call her own, Gracelyn the dog has been adopted. The Humane Society of West Michigan made the announcement on Facebook Wednesday.   • Man injured after being hit by train near HopCat

    KALAMAZOO, Mich- A man was taken to the hospital Monday evening, after he was hit by a train. The crash happened around 10 p.m. on the tracks between E. Michigan Avenue and E. Water Street near the HopCat bar. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety tells FOX 17 preliminary investigations show a 50-year-old man tried crossing the train between its cars while the train was stopped, and was hit when it began moving again.   • Woman injured after train crashes into SUV

    PORTAGE, Mich– Portage Public Safety and Fire personnel were dispatched to a crash involving a train and SUV Tuesday evening. Investigators say shortly before 10 p.m.,  the vehicle crossed the tracks on Garden Lane and was hit in the rear passenger side by the train. Witnesses told officials the railroad crossing bell could be heard long before the collision.   • Multiple crews battle barn fire at Hillside Dairy Farm

    FENNVILLE, Mich– Nearly 80 firefighters from seven different departments responded to a call of a barn fire in Allegan County Wednesday evening. Crews tell FOX 17 the fire was reported just before 6 p.m. at Hillside Dairy Farm in Fennville. As of 9:30 p.m., there were no flames showing but smoke was still coming from the barn.   • City pool closed after being contaminated with vomit

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich– Briggs Pool was closed early Monday afternoon, after it was contaminated by vomit. John Judnich with Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department tells FOX 17 incidents like this aren’t uncommon in large groups of people.   • Volunteers search wooded areas for missing Spanish teacher

    KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich– Several volunteers conducted searches for missing Spanish teacher, Theresa Lockhart on Saturday. Kellie Yunginger tells FOX 17 the search was collaborative effort between Greater Michigan Search and Rescue and the Venus Foundation, which is dedicated to domestic violence victims and their families. Organizers say part of both Kalamazoo and Schoolcraft were searched, but crews didn’t find any signs of Lockhart.   • Several youths detained in connection to massive house fire

    IONIA, Mich– Several departments were called out to help put out a fire at an abandoned home late Sunday afternoon. The fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. on Bellamy Road north of Dildine Road. When crews arrived on the scene, the home was completely engulfed in flames.
