    Sheriff’s deputy injured in crash on I-94

    VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputy has been injured in a crash on I-94 early Thursday morning.     MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — Two people were flown to the hospital after their car crashed into the back of a front-end loader in Holton Township on Thursday night.     Detroit named 2nd-worst city for bed bugs; Grand Rapids, K’zoo, and Battle Creek hit top 20

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The pest control company Orkin has named its top 50 worst cities when it comes to bed bug infestations, with Detroit coming in at the number two spot. Chicago ranked first, its third consecutive year at the top of the list.  Columbus, Ohio rounded out the top three.     Scherzer signs 7-year, $180 million deal with Nationals

    DETROIT — Possibly the best pitcher in the Major League Baseball free agent pool now has a new home.  Former Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer has reportedly signed a contract with the Washington Nationals. According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the deal is for seven years and is worth more than $180 million.     Base jumper dies when parachute fails to open after leaping from TV news tower

    RIVES JUNCTION, Mich. — A base jumper has died, after police say his parachute failed to open, after he jumped from a news station tower. According to WLNS in Lansing, the incident happened Wednesday evening on property owned by WLAJ-TV north of Jackson.  WLNS reports the base jumper managed to gain access to the gated area, scale the 1,000-foot high transmission tower, and jump off.
