    Calvin College temporarily locked down while police search for robbery suspect

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Calvin College was placed under a precautionary, temporary lock-down early Friday morning, as police searched for a suspect in an attempted unarmed robbery. The incident happened near the campus shortly after midnight.  The Grand Rapids Police Department tells us there was no gun used in the robbery.     MOUNT DORA, Fla. — It seems even convicted criminals can get some of the luckiest breaks.  A convicted sex offender in Florida has won a $3 million Lottery jackpot. Timothy Poole served 13 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to sex offenses involving a child.  Over the weekend, he bought a scratch-off lottery ticket at a 7-eleven and it turned out to be a winner.  He opted for a lump-sum payout of $2.2 million.     Woman killed when car goes down embankment and overturns in creek

    BARRY COUNTY, Mich. — A woman is dead after her car went down an embankment and overturned in a creek on Wednesday night. The accident happened on M-66 near Bivens Road in Maple Grove Township, that’s near Nashville. Police say the 39-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  It is not clear what led up to the accident.

    Woman overdoses on heroin while driving, crashes into parked car

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — In the most recent instance of what police are calling a significant increase in heroin overdoses within Grand Rapids, a woman lost consciousness while driving and crashed into a parked car. Police say that at around midnight on Wednesday morning, the 21-year-old woman was driving near Fulton and Sheldon, when she smashed into a parked car.   Both vehicles were totaled.     Man’s body recovered from scene of deadly house fire

    KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Crews are investigating a fire that left one man dead early Monday morning. Firefighters got the call for a house fire located on S. 31st Street in Pavilion Township at around 3:00 a.m.  When they arrived, heavy smoke and flames were visible.     GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On Thanksgiving, over 2,000 people are expected to gather at Mel Trotter Ministries’ 18th Annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet at DeVos Place.
