Christian Frank, Anchor

When I joined FOX 17 News in February of 1999, I figured it would be a quick stop in a career that would continue bouncing me around the country.   Turns out, my wife and I fell in love with West Michigan and decided to stake our claim.

Everybody says, “why would you move here from Colorado” and I always reply, “you’ve got something we didn’t have back there, water.”  Seriously, we love to vacation out west, snowboarding or motorcycling, but for us, Grand Rapids and the Great Lakes are where it’s at.

As Co-Anchor of the 6 and 10pm newscasts, I never know who I will meet or interview.  Whether it’s politicians running for office,  a woman who just invented a life changing device, or Ted Nugent, the job can be a blast.  Not only do we get to learn all the facts about whats happening in our world, we get to become storytellers, which is what I love best about it.

I’m known around the newsroom as a practical joker, prank-calling my coworkers using a British accent or some other gag.  I take my job seriously, but not myself seriously.

My motto is work hard, but play harder.  On my off days, you’ll usually find me riding my Harley-Davidson around town, hanging with friends on the lakeshore, or running my skateboarding English Bulldog Ralphie around the streets of downtown GR.  It’s a community that’s given us so much,  we constantly strive to give back.  Whether it’s “Ride for Babies,” which I’ve chaired for a decade now, or hosting the annual March of Dimes Signature Chef’s Auction,  we’re passionate about using our role in the community and the resources of the station to help others.

If you meet me in public.  Stop me and say hi.  I’m just Christian, that lucky guy on the news.
