Dr. Steven Salvatore joined Tribune Broadcasting in 2005 as the Medical Reporter for PIX11. In 2011 Tribune Broadcasting launched Dr. Steve,a 30-minute health and lifestyle program which is seen nationally.
The multi-topic show hosted by Dr. Steve features a mix of wellness topics for families, while offering advice to empower viewers and encourage them to be their own best advocates.
The son of a neighborhood pharmacist, Dr. Steve grew up on Long Island watching his father, a first generation Italian born to immigrant parents, help the community and knew he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps.
As soon as he was old enough to see over the counter, Steve went to work in the pharmacy and as he interacted with local physicians, Steve knew he wanted to become a doctor himself. Encouraged by his father and grandmother, Steve began the path to medical school, ultimately becoming Board Certified in Emergency medicine.
Dr. Steve is deeply devoted to his family, as the proud father of two teenage daughters; he makes a point of attending all of their sports activities and school events. A firm believer of the family meal, Dr. Steve and his wife cook dinner with their daughters in their Manhattan home every single night, which is why Dr. Steve’s show will contain elements focused on children’s healthcare and gathering the family for a home-cooked meal.
Dr. Steve is a board certified Emergency Medicine physician. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital and was formerly an Attending Physician in the Emergency Department of St. Vincent’s Midtown Hospital in Manhattan.
