I joined the FOX 17 news team as an intern in September, 2012. Three months later, I became a full-time employee and began my contribution to the station as a web producer.

I was born in Flint, Mich. and grew up in the neighboring town of Swartz Creek. I’m always thrilled when people have heard of my hometown. They usually reference the racetrack, which I’ve surprisingly never been to.

I recently graduated with a B.S. in journalism from Grand Valley State University.  I once wanted to be a nurse, which is why I’ve spent the last 6 years as a nurse aide.

Helping others is something I’ve always enjoyed.  One of the things I loved about working in healthcare is hearing people stories.  I especially enjoyed my conversations with the elderly. During those talks I’ve been privileged to hear real-life accounts of things that most of us have only read about in history books, such as the Holocaust.  It brings it home to sit next to such a survivor and hear a first-hand account of the unthinkable moments that hold a place in our history.

With that said, it only makes sense that I’m drawn to news. Not only do I enjoy hearing stories about real people, I enjoy writing them.  I’m elated to be working in such a wonderful community and for FOX 17.  Feel free to follow me on Twitter and be sure to catch up with me on Facebook.
