Kayla Penokie

I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life, and while I’ve been in West Michigan for years now, I still look forward to the excitement I know it will bring to me yet.

I was born and raised in the Detroit area, which I think instilled strong Michigan roots in me, and a pride for the MotorCity. I grew up listening to Classic Rock, and still insist it’s the best music to ever hit the airwaves.

When I’m not working at FOX 17 as a Senior News Producer, I enjoy going to concerts at Pine Knob (which is what it will always be called to me!) spending time on the boat, reading, biking and being with my dog, Riley Jean. I also enjoy adding to my already ridiculous collection of scarfs!

I love working in the news business because it’s always new and changing. I love finding the big stories of the day, many of which are life-changing, and presenting them to viewers at home in a unique and conversational way. On that same token, I enjoy finding some of those videos that have no news value, but will bring a smile to people’s faces or give them something to talk about in the breakroom.

I’m always looking for the next great story to be told. If you have it, or just want to share your thoughts on something we’ve already done, you can always hit me up on facebook or twitter.

You stay classy West Michigan.
