Rick Mecklenburg

Bio

I first joined the FOX 17 family in the summer of 2011 and became the Chief Meteorologist in May 2012.  Prior to arriving at FOX 17, I worked at TV stations in South Bend, Indiana and Huntsville, Alabama, as well as in the meteorology department at NASA-MSFC in Huntsville. Having grown up in Marshall in Calhoun County, I can honestly say it is great to finally be back home.

I am a member of the American Meteorological Society and hold the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist certification, the highest distinction given to a broadcast meteorologist.

In my spare time, I like to bike the wonderful trails we have in West Michigan, explore the great farmers markets and local shops, and of course, keep up with the weather.

I have two children, a son and a daughter.

You can catch me weeknights on FOX 17 News at 5, FOX 17 News at 6, and FOX 17 News at 10, though when the weather is bad, you can catch me on Facebook (Rick Mecklenburg Fox) or Twitter (Rick Mecklenburg) day or night when I’m not at the station.

Feel free to e-mail me at rmecklenburg@fox17online.com. It would be great to hear from you!
