Allegan County Central Dispatch did not have specifics on how many vehicles were involved.

However, it happened near mile marker 54.

Traffic is now opened to one lane. Dispatch said the highway should be fully open soon. The scene is begining to clear.

The road is now down to one lane.

Police say a Ford Tauras and a pickup truck were headed north on M 37 when they tried to pass slower vehicles.

M 37 is a two lane road.

Both vehicles entered the southbound lane to pass the other vehicles.

Oncoming traffic became a problem. The Taurus swerved back into the northbound lane, lost control, went in the ditch and flipped over.

Police say the Taurus was headed to Newaygo. All four people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with injuries.

The severity of those injuries is unknown.

Police are reminding people that traffic is busy this holiday weekend and to be patient and safe.

Right now, there is a perimeter setup in the area limiting foot and vehicle traffic.

Grassley died from his injuries which were sustained at the Best Western Hotel on Cork Street.

Friday, the prosecutor explained why he believes Gordon, a 15 year veteran, acted appropriately.

At a press conference Friday afternoon, Getting laid out what happened that day, January 24^th.

Police were called to Grassley’s home twice that same day.

Grassley’s girlfriend reported being hit by him with a roll of wrapping paper, which drew blood. When police arrived Grassley had already taken off.

Grassley’s girlfriend said he came back home and took their three firearms. The prosecutor said one of them, an SKS rifle, can pierce the armored vests worn by police.

When police came back to the home the second time, Grassley was already gone.

His girlfriend told police that Grassley had been acting strangely. He’d been smoking marijuana, but he had trouble getting a hold of the drug for the past couple nights, making him more irritable.

Grassley, who has a criminal record in Ohio, reportedly told her that he “did not want to go back to jail.”

Police also spoke with Grassley’s mother, Dorothy, on the phone. She said she was worried that he would kill himself and told police  that “he knows how to use guns.”

That evening, police lodged Grassley’s girlfriend and their 2 year old daughter at the Best Western.

The prosecutor said Grassley tried calling her, and she ended up telling Grassley where she was.

Police spotted his vehicle that night, and he took them on a high speed chase. It ended at the Best Western.

“When the police entered the hotel, they immediately began yelling at Mr. Grassley to stop. Mr. Grassley continued to ignore police orders,” Getting read his brief.

He was shot in the buttocks and torso.

The prosecutor read:

“The decision that Sergeant Gordon had to make was to either allow an unstable person who had every reason to believe he was armed with multiple weapons to flee into a crowded hotel to seriously injure or kill [his girlfriend] or other hotel guests, or to use his firearm in defense of himself, the occupants of the hotel and other members of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. Sergeant Sean Gordon chose to fire his weapon.”

After the incident, Grassley’s girlfriend reportedly told police, “The last thing he said to me was that he was going to die because of me.”

That was uttered moments before he was shot. Getting said a black item was spotted in Grassley’s hand before the shooting. It was his cell phone.

One handgun was found in Grassley’s car. A couple of days later, the prosecutor said the other two firearms were turned in by a man who said Grassley had given them to him the day he was killed.

Chief Jeff Hadley said Sergeant Gordon was on leave and will likely return to work after the Memorial Day weekend.

Norton Shores Police Chief Daniel Shaw says they continue to take it day by day, tip by tip.Shaw says they are just forging ahead and every morning they come in, they rededicate themselves to this case.

Investigators are still focused on that silver minivan and the man in the sketch. The chief says the task force, made up of agencies all across the state is still together and will be next week again.

He says they will stay working this case as long as they continue to get “high priority” tips in. They’ve had more than 2,000 tips come in over the past four weeks, not counting duplicates. Shaw says they still get about 20 tips a day and that’s exactly what keeps investigators going.

“We try to keep focused on the task at hand and for us its every tip we clear its one step were getting closer, so were taking the small victories in that were clearing out some of these tip.” I did not ever think we would be here after 4 weeks but that’s what we’ve been presented with, we have very little evidence to go on, try to develop our leads based on tips we received so its just the nature of this case.”

Shaw says someone knows something that could break the case wide open and that is what is most frustrating, that someone isn’t stepping forward. You can call Silent Observer and leave an anonymous tip at 231-72-CRIME.

“Bad timing with jobs, the market,” said Milton.

This spring,  his family decided to put their East Grand Rapids home on the market and it sold almost instantly.

“I think we had an offer in two days,” said Milton, who was pleasantly surprised at the quick results.

They ended up selling for close to the asking price, but had to cover closing costs.

“It was awesome,” said Milton, who is now looking at buying a home in Florida.

Those warm and fuzzy feelings are something sellers have been waiting for ever since the market crash.

“We are seeing sellers who list and sell within in hours or days, much more quickly than they used to. Sellers are selling for more money that they anticipated they would sell for,” explains Craig Wolffis, Mortgage Sales Manager at The Bank of Holland in downtown Grand Rapids.

Insiders say with an increase in eager house hunters and fewer homes on the market, sellers are back in the driver’s seat.

“So people can’t take the time that they used to take in their home searches,” said Wolffis.

He cautions both sellers and buyers to always do their homework.

“Before you put the sign in the yard spend time making sure you have that pre-approval in hand because it could happen that it sells quickly and they have to move quickly,” he explains.

The quick turnaround of the hot market and higher selling prices are also leading to an increase in new construction. Something West Michigan home builders are hoping to cash in on at the 2013 Spring Parade of Homes that kicks off Memorial Day weekend.

“I’m seeing a lot of people who wanted to sell their house in the past few years that haven’ been able to, values are starting to increase there, so they are able to go ahead and sell that home and go into a custom-built home,” said Jamieson Dutot, real estate sales with Mosaic Homes.

During that preliminary hearing, details came out on why police think he was the man who pulled the trigger on Mahdi Hayes.

Hayes was found dead in an alley with a gunshot wound to the back of the head in Grand Rapids.

Investigators testified that they’d discovered that same weapon was also used in the shooting death of Hayes’ ex-girlfriend, Eve’Anna Galloway just five days earlier and a robbery on college avenue just before that.

In court Royale Runyon appeared to shake his head at times while listening to some of the testimony on the stand.

First a witness testified about the robbery on College Street on December, 14.

Witness John Breslin said Runyon and another man walked up to him, with Runyon acting as if he had a gun in his pocket.

“They told me to give me all my valuables, said Breslin. “I said no. They said yes you are. I have a gun. Then I ran down college south to a house with lights on.”

Breslin said the two men fired a shot as he got to the door, but he wasn’t hit.

Then, police said the next day, Eve’Anna Galloway was found dead in her apartment on December 15, with a gun shot to the head.

Her ex-boyfriend Mahdi Hayes was found dead in an alley near his home on December, 20.

In court investigators brought forth the gun that was involved, saying it was the same weapon used in the robbery on College Street, then the Murder of Galloway, then the murder of Hayes.

They said the casings at all three scenes matched the same gun.

Prosecutors also brought forth witness Angel Hardy.

She testified that Royale gave her a gun during a candlelight vigil for Hayes off of Henry Street.

Because police were there, admitting it had been used in a crime.

“Royale gave me the gun to hold so I held it for him,” said Hardy. “He told me there was a couple bodies on it.”

It was at that vigil that Runyon was arrested, prosecutors said his friend Hardy then used the gun just four days later in a different robbery on Christmas Day.

The suspects were caught and when they tested it, it tied the crimes together.

Although the defense pointed out, there was no DNA on the gun or prints connecting Runyon to the weapon.

The preliminary hearing will continue at a later date as more witnesses still needed to testify in the case.

Investigators testified that Runyon had a key belonging to Galloway’s home when he was arrested.

However, he has not been charged in her murder, only his brother’s murder.

Jessica’s family though is hoping the holiday weekend will spark a renewed interest in the investigation.It’s the first time Jessica’s family has been out at the make-shift command center in over a week. Jessica’s Grandma Diane Homrich says “I genuinely feel that they missed us being here.”

They decided Friday would be a perfect opportunity to spread the word. “With the holiday weekend coming up we are hoping that people will stop by and pick up a whole bunch of flyers and if they’re going out-of-town take them with them and pass them out wherever they go. A lot of out of towners, wear your t-shirts and talk to them about it lets keep her face out there and keep things moving.”

“We had them in the truck but they got old and worn out so we stopped to get new ones” said Matt Wiseman. Wiseman came out to replace old flyers on his truck with new ones and pick up some more flyers to take with him before he headed out with his family. “Hopefully we can do whatever we can to bring her back home.”

“I’m picking up some flyers im going to be sending them out to people who are going to be camping this weekend” said Shannon Hosington who also plans to pass out flyers at local parades.

“I pray every night hoping the next day we get up and she’s found.”

The suspects were described as:

• 4 large black males.
• Heights ranging from 6 foot to 6 foot  6 inches.
• The suspect vehicle was described as a silver Dodge Charger with a Florida license plate.
