CANON CITY, CO-
The Monday court date for 17 year-old Brittany Rector, one of two girlfriends on the run with escaped inmates Kenneth Grauman and Greg Bradshaw did not take place. Instead, FOX 17 has confirmed with Det. Sgt. Jeff Worley of Canon City Police Department, she will go before a judge on Tuesday along with Laura Grauman. Grauman dates Bradshaw and Rector dates Kenneth Grauman, family stated.
Considered a juvenile now, time is against Rector, who is being held at the Spring Creek Juvenile Detention Facility in Colorado Springs. She is just days away from turning 18, her mother Judith Olexa said.
The Canon City Daily Record was in court Friday when both Graumans and Bradshaw went before a judge. No bond was made available for the men, while Laura’s was set at $2,000. The newspaper states that all four could face multiple state and federal charges.
The men escaped from a Lake County re-entry program on Sept. 29. Some point after that, the girlfriends joined them, taking police on a wild chase that involves at least five stolen vehicles from Michigan, Indiana and Iowa. Police are also looking into possible criminal activity by the group in Nebraska, Worley added.
On Thursday, Oct. 11, a tip lead police to Canon City, Colo. The men were busted by a SWAT team as they tried to enter the Budget Host Inn. Their girlfriends were taken into custody a few blocks away during a traffic stop. Police say they were in a stolen 2006 Nissan Altima which FOX 17 has confirmed was taken on Oct. 8 from a Glen wood, Iowa Dollar General.
A shoplifting investigation at a Colorado WalMart is now added into the mix, according to police.
